Do we have to say anything about this fantastic operating system?

My favorite distributions:
  • Gentoo
the best distribution i have seen. For people who wants to control everything, but don't try it on slower machines (i recommend > 500MHz) and without a cheap Internet connection. Source-based, up-to-date, try it yourself...
  • Debian
a very stable distribution with lots of packets and developers. But sadly the development is very slow, because their main focus lays on stability and security. A distribution for hosts where you you don't want to come into trouble (infrastructure like server, router, etc.).
  • SuSE
the choice for beginners, with an easy installation, graphical and central administration and such useless ;) stuff.

If you look for Linux software, search at freshmeat.

Naturally Linux also runs fine on my Toshiba Satellite 3000-100 laptop (Gentoo distribution in my case), but someone else had already published a webpage about the problematic points, so i won't re-invent the weel.
